Students work on & energize the donated 1500 Amp, 3 Phase Switchgear, testing power transformation & distribution. The 3 phase high voltage is converted to a safer 3 phase 12 / 24 volt application via the "REAL" System 3 Pro. The Switchgear is built & donated by Kinney Electric of Elgin, Illinois.
The classroom benches are built by the students. Each bench is constructed from pipe - donated via Allied Tube - which was cut, threaded & fitted by our students upon the donated Ridgid threading machine. All is neatly fitted with pipe fittings, courtesy of Mueller B&K. The classroom lighting is installed by the students, courtesy Pass & Seymour. The classroom lamps are supplied via the generosity of Sylvania Lighting.
Booths are designed & constructed via the courtesy of the faculty & students of the D-CHS Wood Shop. Today they are further used to instruct residential electrical installations. Each booth is equipped with its own "REAL" System, affording a first hand Residential Electrical Applied Learning experience.
The "REAL" System is utilized by students to energize and test their initially assigned circuits.
